Distance Education

School of Distance Learning: Faculty of Business Administration and Information Science

The School of Distance Learning offers courses and subjects from the Department of Business Administration and Networks, and the Department of Systems and Informatics.
Classes are offered in various forms, including self-study using printed materials (independent study), intensive courses (“schooling”), and distance learning using a network transmission system (“media classes”, now land-based, previously by satellite). The latter is viewable real-time, broadcast to some 15 education sub-centers located throughout Japan, and is also available by recorded media for those unable to take the lecture when offered.
Furthermore, internet media classes are growing in number and popularity, whereby students can view poignant parts of lectures from “media classes” that have been condensed and modified into an interactive e-Learning experience, accessible over the Internet.

Types of Course

External Course (Course A)

With the objective of graduating from our university, students primarily study independently at home, using texts and printed materials, in addition to internet media classes (e-Learning), as intensive courses (“schooling”).

Attached Internal Course (Course B)

Students simultaneously complete two courses of study, one from their vocational school, (which is recognized as an education sub-center of our university), and the other involving courses offered by our university. The objective is to graduate from both the vocational school and the university, incorporating the best of both worlds; the practical component from the vocational school and the academic component from the university. The university course is undertaken through a combination of broadcast media classes, intensive courses, and self-study with printed materials and texts. E-learning is also an option.

Non-degree Student Course

Students are able to enroll in various courses and subjects on a non-degree basis, thereby continuing “lifelong learning”, or enjoying study as “adult education”. Furthermore, the university is accredited to offer courses that enable students to obtain a nationally recognized High School Teaching Certificate in Information Studies.

Matriculating Student Course

This course offers students the opportunity to obtain the eligibility to enter the School of Distance Learning for those who were unable to successfully complete high school.
